Destination Drive full

Thread needs solution

I purchased and installed True Image Home 2009 in 2010. While the software seems to work as expected I have found that the 500 GB destination drive that I am backing up to has become full. The 300 GB HD I am backing up from is only half full so I am not sure exactly why I am using so much disc space. Now that the disc is full I can't seem to do a consolidation. Any thoughts? Thanks!

What type of task have you set up?

If you are defragging your drive on a regular basis, this could account for images larger than you thought would eb the case.

I was doing an incremental backup daily then switched to weekly about a month ago to save disc space.
I am running windows XP Pro and defragment manually about every 3-4 months.
I wouldn't expect to see backup file sizes over 10MB daily for home use and am very surprised when I see backup file sizes over 1GB.

One possibility for your space issue could be your registry checkpoints being included in your backups.

One thing you could try would be to either to turn system restore off and on. Or, use Windows disk cleanup and keep only the most recent checkpoints. Another possibility would be to check your disk for errors.
From the command prompt:
chkdsk c: /r

and it could run for several hours.
