Differential Back Up question.

Thread needs solution

Currently running a Differential back for about 2 weeks now.
As well as the initial full back up I now have 17 Differential smaller back ups.
How many of these do I need to keep to enable a System reinstall?

Is the reinstall process straight forward using the "Differential" method?

Thanks.

When you restore, select the backup archive file made the date you want to come back to.
With a differential backup, ATI only uses this differential file and the original full backup.
With an incremental backup, ATI uses all the incremental files from the original full backup until the selected incremental file included.

Thanks for that.

Two last questions:-

When I choose the latest Differential back up file, by date, will it automatically then choose the original full back up or do I choose the full back up first followed by my chosen date or will ATI do it automatically?

Also can I delete all previous Differential back ups leaving the most current and the initial Full back up?

Select the backup you wish to restore, such as your latest differential if that's what you want. ATI will automatically use the full backup on which it is based, assuming it has not been moved from its original location.
