Disk Clone ssd 480 GB to ssd 980 ssd

Thread needs solution

hiya,

disk clone true image 2013

Windows 7

I've installed a new 980 GB ssd and am trying to clone the existing 480 GB to it.  At first the new disk wasn't recognized and I used True Image to initialize it...as MBR possibly my first mistake.  The true image graphic of the drive in the clone screen has an "X" on the left side.  Am able to set up all clone choices and tick the PROCEED button.  I'm asked to reboot and when the computer comes back on I get a message "Starting Acronis Loader" I hit return and it just boots into windows

I cannot use bootable media, it doesn't work.  I saved the image on the computer, burned a disk with Roxio, boot from the CD..."No Media." Tried several times with different disks, different methods, no luck

I successfully cloned a hd to the 480 ssd with this program on this computer last year while in windows

Am I preparing the new disk improperly?

Thank You

Hello, I would recommend starting off by taking a look / refresher of the information in the ATIH 2013 User Guide on the subject of Cloning http://www.acronis.com/en-gb/support/documentation/ATIH2013/index.html#9042.html

If you did this previously from within Windows, then you should follow the same steps for the new SSD, assuming you can connect the new SSD internally alongside the existing SSD.

The alternative method to achieve the same result is to create a full disk image of the 480GB SSD and then restore this to the 980GB SSD using the normal backup / recovery options of ATIH 2013.
