Disk Mode or File Backup for HDD with data only?

Thread needs solution

ATI 2013
Win 7

In ATI 2013 I'm starting to use Disk Mode backup now for my HDD with the OS to ensure I get everything including hidden partitions and it is simpler because I don't have to think about it (which partition etc). I only need to do this once a week.

Again for my data disk, a backup in Disk Mode would be simpler. However for speed considerations on daily backups, is incremental File Backups much faster than incremental image backup using Disk Mode?

Thanks

You won't know until you actual try and compare the results.

Grover....now please. We all know what incredible work you have done in guiding us with your excellent reports from your tireless testing which I think you actually must enjoy (but not me). Could you not share a morsel? I will send my first born...he is only 6 :)

If I were to make an guess based on the comments of others, the file backup would take much longer.
The 6 year old would outsmart me. Better keep him and love him all the time.

Well I gave it a work out. The backup in Disk Mode for both full and incremental backups is an order of magnitude faster.

I suppose the file backup is really for individual files or for a small sample of the the total on disk.

Your surmise was right Grover.
