Do bad sectors get reported?
Hello, if a bad sector is present on the source drive, while doing a backup (of a whole disk or partition), will Acronis True Image Home 2011 alert me?
Thanks,
Thomas

And what about if a bad sector is encountered on the destination drive, while writing?
I think the sector would be automatically relocated by the NTFS file-system; the write operation would be transferred to an healthy sector. Right? Would TIH2011 report it all the same, or would it not be aware of this operation performed by the hard disk?

The file system isn't going to automatically relocate the sector. Usually, if the drive has run out of spare sectors, you'll end up with a bad sector on the drive that can be seen. Run chkdsk /r to try to fix it. TI may report a problem -- it just depends on the situation. Errors may also be logged in the Event Log.
This is one of the reasons I prefer to validate backups after creating them. I like to know that the backup is good at this point. If it's not, I can fix the problem and recreate it.
