Does the cryptowall (successor to cryptolocker) virus encrypt .tib files

I have 2 external disks and I am wondering if there is any information about whether the backups on these disks will be useable if I am infected by cryptowall and all of my files are encrypted. My understanding is that the program encrypts normal document file types, but do not know if .tib is included. Obviously this will impact my backup strategy.
