Does TIH 2011 Plus Pack work with building a 64 bit system recovery environment, and which one

Thread needs solution

I have spent the last 2 hours reading posts and help files and things. I have not sound a simple, understandable, answer to this.

I have the TIH 2011 plus pack and run Win 7 Pro 64. Will the PP allow me to properly create a recovery environment for my OS using MS WinPE 3? I just have not been able to find a clear, understandable, yes/no statement.

Is there a simple (small words that mean something to people that don't play with Acronis and Windows for a living or hobby) list that actually explains which of the multiple ways of creating/using a restore DVD for Win 7 64 is the best solution?

There is Bart, win PE, etc. I have no idea what the merit of those things are but I need to pick one.

Why o' why can things in Acronis documentation (and forum threads) not be written to be understandable without a Microsoft/Acronis expert certification. I have spent countless hours on this crap. I am really sick of it. Why can you not have at least the documentation vetted by the average computer user instead of experts or the people that programmed it; for whom jargon relating to both Acronis and Windows is second nature. Much of it is like the author is speaking in tongues; and it was a translation besides. Answers by Acronis to many forum posts are like a poor Chinese translation. The original question is misunderstood (as well as subsequent attempts by the poster to get them to understand) and the answers simply don't address the question. Many people just say to themselves "screw it" and stop trying to get an answer. For others it works.

The list of things that don't work is just outrageous. Everyday stuff. And what can't be done (like naming files and directories) is just plain stupid computer 101 defects.

Lets start from the easy to the less easy.

1. Unless your all your disks are not properly seen by the normal Rescue/Recovery CD created by user or you have other hardware issues, the Rescue CD created from the Windows install is ample for most average users. It has all the normal recovery functions. Also possible from this installed version is the creation of a bootable usb flash drive as a replacement for the CD but this method has the same driver limatation as the CD.

I have a xp-Pro desktop and an Asus Win-7 64 bit Laptop and option 1 does create successful backups and restores without the need for option 2 or 3.

2. Or, if the above Rescue CD does not see all your disks, then the next option would be to visit your Acronis registration page and download the "bootable media" option for your current version. This bootable media" iso file can be downloaded and burnt as an image onto a blank CD. This becomes an alternate Rescue CD which has more up to date drivers than the installation version. It has the same functions but simply uses different drivers to read your disks and hardware.

3. Or, if the above two options does not function properly, then the next option is the Plus Pack. The Plus Pack offers two benefits. First is to restore to different hardware. Second, is the PE recovery environment which enables you to create an Acronis bootable Rescue CD but using the same drivers as Windows uses on your installation. If Windows sees your disks properly and the option 1 and 2 does not, then option 3 becomes the preferred option. Option 3 is slightly faster than option 1 or 2, but not significantly faster.

Creating this Plus Pack PE Rescue CD can be done but it is not easy and many have difficulty making a successful disk. Additional information about creating this type CD can be found by clicking on my signature index below and selecting item 9-P.

4. It really comes down to a matter of which option will fill your needs. Option 3 does not bring anything more to the table (for the average uses) unless it will work where the others will not. I would only go to the trouble of creating item #3 if the options 1 and 2 do not work.

I have a Win 7 64 bit sytem with TI2011, PP and build 6696. I have used all three of Grovers approaches and I suggest either 1 or 2 above. They are quick and easy.

With your system approach 3 could be very time consuming to implement
