Dual Boot cloning advice needed
Hi Everyone
Background:
Several years ago I had need to clone a single boot XP system from a failing hard drive. I bought and used Norton Ghost 8 to perform the task and following the manual had no problems. I am now in need of cloning again. However, NG 8 does not suuport Windows 7 or the type of clone task that I need to perform (if it is at all possible).
I do not want to go for NG 15 after reading many bad reviews on its performance and its IMO overly hiked price. I worked for a company that used ATI 9 for all its data backups and for rapid cloning of its OS & inhouse Software onto new systems as needed which seemed to work flawlessly. ATIH 2012 & DD11 seem to have taken top slot in most reviews and also gets recommends on other forums I have searched, but before I commit to buying either or both, I need to confirm it/they will do what I need.
Current Setup & Task required:
I have a 500gb Sata drive that I installed XP Professional 32bit on originally, later I then split the drive into 2 partitions and installed Windows 7 Professional 64bit and made both OS's bootable. My problem now is that I did not split the drive evenly or allow sufficient space for the Win 7 OS. XP = 365Gb, Win 7 = 100Gb.
What I would like to do is Clone the Win 7 OS to a new installed 1 Tb Sata Drive then delete the original Win 7 partition and re-allocate the space back to the XP OS whilst retaining Dual Boot functionality.
Is this possible ? and if so would I need ATIH, DD11 or both.
TIA
