Error 0x013C0005

Thread needs solution

I ran a new incremental back up and it has failed on validation with error 0x013C0005. The prog tells me to search the KB with this code, but there are no hits.

I found a forum topic http://forum.acronis.com/forum/16258 dated February 2011. Initially an Acronis employee called Anton was giving help but he seems to have lost the thread after a while, and it eventually peters out without a solution being identified and pulished in July 2011!!!!

So has this problem been solved?

ColMac,

Is this a disk/partition image or a files and folders backup?

Does validation work if started from the recovery CD?

Can the archive be explored without any problems? If the image is a disk/partition one, try mounting and see if it mounts.

Hi Colin

It was a Files & folders back-up. I'll need to look later at testing the back-up when I can re-boot. Its' pretty busy just now.

It certainly looked as if it was explorable, I did look inside the tib file, but I didn't check closely. Again I'll do do later

Thanks

Colin

Colin,

As this is a files and folders backup, do you have Outlook installed on your PC, and, is the PST file in one of the folders you are trying to validate?

Colin

I do have Outlook (2007) but the pst is not even on the same disk.

However, the backup task has now run successfully. I did a new one with an identical spec, and it ran perfectly as a first time backup (took ages to validate tho! as it was 142 Gb). Overnight it then completed its scheduled run 2, and it also ran perfectly. This time 42Mb. The validation still took a long time as its presumably validating the whole back-up, but it passed validation.

So I'll try and examine the old one later, but for now it seems to be working fine. So thanks anyway

Colin
