Error E000E000B Failed to create backup location

Thread needs solution

I am getting an error message: "Error E000E000B: Failed to create backup location." "Cannot enumerate streams in place." This happens when trying to create a backup location on my old Windows XP computer while running ATI 11.0 on my new Windows Vista PC over my home network.

I want to move the ATI software from the XP PC to the Vista PC and use the XP PC for the backup location, but not until I figure out what is wrong. Windows Firewalls on both PCs are configured properly to allow access from ATI. It works fine with no error message to backup from the XP to the Vista, but not the other way.

I cannot find an explanation of the error message.

Please HELP!!
Thanks,
Richard

Hello Richard,

I will help you with this situation.

We had some issues with Acronis True Image 11 Home and backup locations saved on network resources. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee the correct work of Backup Location organized in such way, so I would recommend you to use some internal drive to create it. In this case product will work fine.

Please feel free to ask if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.

Hi,

I am using Acronis True Image 11 and am getting this issue also, today. When is a fix for this issue going to be made? My internal drives are not large enough and I must use my NAS drive for my backups. This make my purchase of the application completely redundant and a waste of money to me.

The last post was March 2009. Acronis has had over a year to fix this "issue". There is nowhere on your product description page that indicates "May not work with network locations"...Hence this is a mis-sell.

Please provide a fix update for this issue.

Anthony

Hi,

I found a solution for my issue.

The issue was that I was connecting to the NAS drive with 2 different usernames, one for my folders, one for my backups. This caused windows to complain and raised the error in True Image 11.

I have now reconfigured my backup folder to use the same credentials as my main user, and I can create locations and backup successfully. Not ideal, but it works.

Hello Anthony,

Thank you for taking time to writing me back and reporting about the results.
I'm really glad that you have managed to fix the issue.

Please feel free to contact me again if you have any other questions concerning our products.

We are always at your service.

Thank you.

I am getting the same error using Acronis 11.
Win7 desktop to Win7 laptop using a WORKGROUP. From the desktop I can see and select the laptop partition in the Acronis 'Create Location' window but end with the "Cannot enumerate streams in place" error. Tried with and without a password option with same resut.
I did not completely understand Anthony's workaround - has there been any further resolution or explanation of this problem?
Thanks for your consideration

James,

When you say Acronis 11, do you mean Acronis v11 (which precedes the 2009, 2010 and 2011 versions) or Acronis 2011?

V11 is not compatible with Windows 7.
