Error Message When Trying to View Backed Up Files

Thread needs solution

I ran a back up and the program showed that the back up was successful. However, when I use Windows Explorer to try to view the files that were backed up to my external hard drive, I receive the following message "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Any idea what I am doing wrong?

It seems your file association is incorrect for .tib files.

If you reinstall your True Image program, the proper .tib file associations will be restored.

Thank you for your response. I have reinstalled the program three times and still have the same problem. As you probably can tell, I'm not what one would call a "computer expert". I have seen the term "file association" but don't know what that is.

What version of Acronis and Windows are you using?

Hi Jim

Just a thought, rather than reinstalling ATIH2011, which I do not believe is the problem, have you tried to use Windows Explorer to associate your Acronis software with your *.tib files.

I am a windows user (WinXP Pro SP3) and I can do file associations and I am sure this facility still exist in Windows 7.

UK Bob.

That's what I would do. Edit Windows file associations.

Thanks, James F, ukbobboy and tuttle. After taking all of your suggestions, I was able to resolve the problem. Thank you all for taking the time to help me out.

Would you mind sharing your solution?
