an error occurred while installing true image 2013

Thread needs solution

Upon trying to install a True Image onto a new computer, I encountered the error message: An error occurred while installing True Image 2013. Please see attached file: AcronisTrueImage.msi

My True Image 2013 installation path was to list both the 2013 upgrade and the True Image 2010 (full) install codes.

Issue description:
Installation has failed.
Fatal error during installation

There was no relevant information in the Knowledge Base, and when I contacted the Help Desk, the agent said that I need to purchase an upgrade. Otherwise, can't be of any help.

My question is, if there are no solutions available, why on earth would I want to buy an upgrade for a product I already had to upgrade 1 1/2 years ago?
This behavior does not instill a lot of customer loyalty, and certainly doesn't motivate me to buy another Acronis product.

Please forgive my rant, but does anyone out there had a solution to this problem?

Hello Paul,
You description is not quite clear. Maybe this will help. You do not have to install an upgrade, by first installing a previous version. You bypass that step and install the later version of the product, then supply the S/N for both the old and new version to activate. The old product is never used, just its serial number.

Beyond that, if you are trying to install over an older copy and the new install has failed, you may need to use the Clean Up Utility to completely remove the old and new failure to get a "clean" attempt at installing the 2013 you are trying to use.
