Error: "Unable to create volume snapshot: None"

Thread needs solution

I'm using ATI Home 11.0 8053 on a Dell Optiplex running WinXP SP3. The drive in the Dell has two partitions a small FAT partition (I presume some kind of recovery area) and an NTFS partition which takes up the rest of the disk.

When I try to backup the entire disk I get this "Unable to create volume snapshot" error (event code 33). The frustrating part is, I did the same thing a year ago with no problems. Furthermore, if I just backup the NTFS partition it completes with no problems.

During the previous (successful) backup, it looks like I may not have used compression and I backed up everything, no exclusions. This time around I used normal compression and I excluded some stuff.

Does anyone have an explanation for this behavior and, better still, a fix? I can supply the error logs if that would help (they're big ugly xml files so I'm not posting them to keep down the clutter).

TIA
eric

Hello Eric,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you.

It is possible this issue is either caused by errors on your hard drive or a malfunction of our low-level drivers. I would really appreciate if you could check this post and get back to me with those reports in case the solution does not help?

The AcronisInfo report will have program logs too.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
