Estimated Size Not Even Close!

Thread needs solution

I have True Image Home, version 9, build 3854.

I noticed that when I chose to peform a new full image of my C: drive (which has 103GB of used space, 129GB free) and select normal compression, the value for "Normal Compression, Estimated Size" is 61.74GB. All well and good.

However, the actual size of this .tib file turns out to be 97.6GB!

Is this common? It had been a while since I made a new full image. And yes, there is more data on my C: drive these days. But still, why such a big discrepancy?

No I am not saving the image of C: on C:! I am saving it to a partition on my second internal hard drive.

If you are backing up files that are already compressed then you are getting about what I'd expect.

Search this forum for ideas about how to keep your system drive small and to keep data files on a different partition. This way your TI images are only system files and installed programs. This also makes your TI image files are much smaller.

Your data files (on different partition) should be backed up using a "copy" type of program rather than with TI. This lets your data backups be immediately accessible without having to restore them. I use Karen's Replicator freeware for this.
