Extremely slow validation

Thread needs solution

Hi!

I just got True Image 2013 today and have been running my first full backup with it, while I was working on the computer. Even with a highly memory-intense program, the backup seemed to progress pretty fast and did not noticeably interfere with my other computer activities.

This changed all of a sudden. I pretty much lost control over the computer, couldn't effectively switch to running applications, trying to close them down in the hope of freeing some more memory.

When I checked the Acronis window, it said still 20 minutes to go. Four hours later, it's still 8 minutes to go :P

My questions: Is this typical behavior? I did a search and found that some users experienced the same issue a good number of years ago, and at that time at least, it seemed to have been typical.

Since the backup itself has already finished, can I just cancel out of the current process (validation) or would that undo the entire backup?

I had been thinking of killing the entire thing already a couple of times, but there is some ongoing data transfer between my laptop and the external HD. So I guess there's still hope...

Validation does take longer, but your times seem excessive, it is very RAM intensive have you tried running Memtest86 for at least 12 hours to see if that throws up any problems?

True Image can have problems where other RAM intensive software doesn't. The other thing to look at is was your laptop on battery power or mains when you validated?

Well, I don't have a laptop, and so far the validation has taken three hours and still going, down to 10 minutes an hour ago, 2013 version build 6514, taking way longer that it should.
