Failed to backup file or folder `\\`

Thread needs solution

Using TI Home 2010 under Windows 7 ultimate.
Trying to back up a file from my network HD.
Select the file to be backed up, set it's credentials. ie give it my user name and the password associted with the HD.
When I run the backup get message "Failed to backup file or folder `\\`"
The knowledge base says taht this is because I haven't set the credentials.
If I click on ignore then the back up continues, but this is no use if I want to schedule an unattended backup.
I have attached 2 screen captures of the relevant messages.
Any suggestions on what is going wrong.
Cheers
Gerry

I've been having the same problems. as well as many others.

I'm also sick of the help chat being based in India, so they find it hard to understand you half the time.

I'm sick of none of my posts being responded to in here.

I am now installing Paragon. If it works as it should, then I am un-installing Acronis.

I've had enough

Hello Gerry Harris,

Thank you very much for your post. I will definitely assist you with resolving this issue.

First of all, please check the build number of your Acronis software. The latest build for Acronis True Image 2010 Home is 6053.

If I am correct, this is the Knowledge Base article that you used to troubleshoot the error message - Failed to backup file or folder.

Most likely your network HD has its own set of credentials. Please make sure, that when you create that scheduled task, your network HD credentials are specified per the Knowledge Base article that I have mentioned above.

If you continue to experience the same issue, I would like to ask you to submit a support case and provide me with its number, either here or via a PM, so that I can take care of it. Please attach to it the following information that will assist us in resolving this problem:

1. Screenshots of every step in the scheduled task wizard.

2. An AcronisInfo report.

Dear David Gregory,

I am very sorry that your support requests are unanswered. I shall check all of your posts and take personal care of them.

For the error message: Failed to backup file or folder that you are getting, please check my above comments to Gerry, check your credentials and submit a support case with the same information. After that, please give me the case number.
