Software - True Image Home 2011, Build 6868 & Windows 7

After a major disc failure, I reinstalled the Acronis software and let it rediscover the backups on the external drive. The initial and all, except the latest, incremental versions for one backup were identified. When I attempted to add to the latest version to the back up list, the above message was displayed with the event code 0x0103000D+0x006403ED+0x000B007F+0x00040011+0x0000FFF0+0x80070002.

After copying the problem file to the laptop drive, I retried using the original name and then with another name. The same message was displayed both times.

I was able to successfully recover data from all the identified versions of this backup without any problems.

I have not been able to find any help on the Acronis site. Is recovery possible?

Can you open the backups when booted to the TI CD?

Did the backups validate successfully when created?

How many "latest incremental versions" cause the error?

Were/are you using T&D?

Being new to the software, and this forum, I do not understand 'booted to the TI CD'. I did not have a boot drive. Having reread the manual, I intend to create one. Is this what you are refering to?

Also, I had not requested validation of the backups - now corrected. All other backups have been recovered successfully without validation.

Only the latest incremental version (6) has the error. I cannot remember whether the backup completion notification appeared close to the freezing of my laptop, or if this backup was underway at the time.

To attempt its recovery I selected 'Browse for backup', highlighted the tib file, then clicked 'Add to backup list'. The quoted error message, including mention of T&D, then appeared.

MudCrab, thank you for your quick response.

The TI CD can be created using TI. I just wondered if you could access the #6 image if you booted to the TI CD and tried it. Sometimes things are different in the CD version than in Windows.

Does the file size of the #6 image seem correct? If you've done regular Incremental backups, you may know if it looks correct or not. For example, if they are normally 2GB in size and it's only 500MB, it's probably not all there.

I created a TI CD, a good suggestion, and booted to it but received the message 'This is not the last volume of the backup archive' when I tried to load the file. Does this provide any hints?

The file size is within the size range of the other images.

It sounds like it's corrupted and invalid. Do you know exactly when the drive failure happened? You could look at the modified time on the #6 image and see what it says. In any case, it doesn't look like you'll be able to use it.

I have a very similar problem with latest build 6868. I used update backup list. Some of the backups correctly open, some of them cause error "0x0103000D+0x006403ED+0x00040007+0x0000FFF0+0x80070003" (failed to collect archive in try and decide session"). I can open all tib files without problems by navigating in windows explorer and open them as folders. However, this method doesn't work for my non-stop backup which cannot be explored using Windows Explorer.

Since Non-Stop Backup and T&D use similar technologies, I wouldn't be surprised if this error message applies to your Non-Stop Backup.
If you can, reset your non-stop backup: delete the task and delete the hidden folder "Time Explorer Storage" in the destination. This will delete all your backup.

If other backup files are showing the same error, validate them. You should consider that backups that don't validate are probably corrupted.

Normally, you should not have to update the backup list. You don't need to see all your backup files in that list to recover. You only need the list of *active* backup tasks.

Thank you all for your input. I am resigned to its loss and slowly collecting missing data from other sources and people. Validation now switched on for backups.
