Failed to Copy File or Folder ''.

Thread needs solution

When I try to backup Application Settings, I always get the error "Failed to Copy File or Folder ''." (with an empty file name). After clicking "Ignore", the backup stops and nothing is going to be saved.
(I have the German version of True Image Home 2010, so I do not know the exact error messages in English)

Logfile is below. It seems to be a problem with the Virtual Store or something like that.

I am using Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit German.

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>

Hello Doug,

Thank you for contacting Acronis Customer Central. My name is Sumit.

I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused to you due to the delay in the response. However I assure you this is not the kind of service we aim to deliver.

As mentioned in your mail that you were not able to create a backup because it requires a continuous user interaction due to certain files. I assure you that I have understood your issue and will now resolve it to your complete satisfaction.

Doug, you are facing this issue because of the temp files saved in your system. So first thing I would suggest you is to delete all the temp internet files.

Second I want you to create a backup archive excluding the temp file (check the box before it).
For further details refer to the article 9.3.5, "Selecting what to exclude", Page # 74, on user guide of ATIH 2010.

Third you can also use the silent mode while creating a backup.

For further details refer to the article 9.4.1.7, "Error handling", Page # 80, on user guide.

Please note the user guide can be downloaded from our website :

Please let me know if you have any other questions. We would be more than happy to assist you on the same and will leave your case open until you confirm this resolves your issue. I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Sumit Reddy

Acronis support fails to recongnize that the files that it is erroring out on are files that I WANT TO BACK UP, and not temp files. Exluding the files that it is erroring out on is NOT A FIX. I want to back up URL, VCF, EML, etc files! In addition, enabling slient mode would just ignore the backup of these files, so that is not a fix either. I really like the Acronis product, however I am very displeased with the support.
