Failed to find information about operating system in Master Boot Record

Thread needs solution

Good Morning to All:

While reviewing my logs for the week, I found this error message for both Tuesday and Sunday:

"Failed to find information about operating system in Master Boot Record"

Also on one day:

"Configuration file is not found and cannot be created."

However, supposedly I have had both successful backups and verifications. Would anyone know if I should be worried? Are my backups indeed valid?

Thank you for your kind help.

Sincerely:

Louis James

Hello Louis,

Thank you for using Acronis Software.

Please check first, if you are using the latest version of your Acronis Product. You can find and download the latest version, following this article.

Your Message "Configuration file is not found and cannot be created." is related to the SyncMe function in your Product. I found the Information, that this message occurs, when the product have an delay while running the sync. This does not mean, that the sync is not working. There is only a delay while doing that.

For the other Message "Failed to find information about operating system in Master Boot Record" it seems, that you possible have an problem in your Master Boot Record. For this I suggest to run a simple repair, by following this article. You can also use third party tool like MBRWizard, or TestDisk.

If there is anything else, we can do for you, please let me know.

Thank You.

Note that I have the message "Failed to find information about operating system in Master Boot Record". I ran the basic diagnostic, TestDisk, per your suggestion above. The partition structure lists as I expect and TestDisk reports no problems. I also experience no problems with grub-multi-boot with Win 7 and two Linux distros. Acronis is the only one complaining about the MBR. I wonder what it does not like?
