Failed to read data from the disk
I recently added a larger drive and cloned my old one so that the new larger one is the new bootable drive. All was well until trying to back up my system onto a third, empty drive. TI2010 always fails now, giving msg "Failed to read from the disk." It refs an offending sector. Also get "Operation with partition '0-0' was terminated. Failed to read the snapshot." Chkdsk reveals no errors. I've uninstalled True Image, done a clean install of the latest build, 6053. Used the Acronis cleanup utility, tried again. Same thing. I only upgraded 40 days ago. Guess it's too much to ask for free tech support? The prog doesn't work and I don't yet know if rolling back to v 2009 or v 11 will work, but I shouldn't have to do this. I paid to upgrade. Help, please.

I saw the post about Snapman and downloaded the latest version. No help. Also saw a post about going into the registry and getting rid of it. No help. I've stripped every vestige of Acronis software and reloaded everything from scratch. Same deal. Yes, I still have the old drive connected and currently read as F:. I'll try disconnecting it and see if anything changes.

Removed the parent of the cloned drive from the system, booting from the clone, with a fresh copy of Acronis TI on it. Still will NOT do a backup. Also tried to back up a disk drive other than the boot drive. Same thing. Three payments to Acronis and at least two referral sales of the product and I'm dead in the water with it. Guess I'll have to wait for a drive by support rep as right now I am not willing to invest another dime in Acronis. Here's the latest report:

Downloaded and installed the latest Snapapi msi file that is supposed to take care of most of the problems that users have been having using Ti. Now I can't even open the TI program without getting an error message! WHAT'S WITH YOU PEOPLE?!

Finally got this fixed. Chkdsk does NOT find all hard drive errors. Used Western Digital's own drive analysis program and got error message leading to an RMA and new hard disk. Acronis working fine now. I suggest that users having disk read errors leading to Acronis failures look further intot he drive help than Chkdsk provides.

James:
Thanks for the solution you have found. I have often wondered about chkdsk and how effective it is.
