Failed to write file on external usb drive

Thread needs solution

I'm using TIH 2011 on windows 7 64-bit. I have a usb dog to put my internal drives in and I've used a external iomega drive.

Most of the disks give this error message:
0x00040003-0x0000FFF0-0x80070079

No information for this in the knowledge base. I've made backups earlier that worked. At this time 1 drive in the dog works o.k. but the iomega and other drive in the dog does not.

Error appears sometimes in the beginning (0%) , sometimes a little later (4%).
Disks are o.k. according to the manufacturers software.

Any suggestions?

Not much to add. If you aren't, try plugging the USB devices into a rear connector rather than a front connector - there will be less cable this way. You really need to find what the error msg means from Acronis.

Other thing to try is using the TI recovery CD to do the task (are you creating or restoring or validating). This takes Windows out of the picture since the recovery CD is Linux. Might provide some further clues.

Not sure I am understanding which drives are in use but assigning a specific drive letter to each different backup disk can help so each disk would have its own backup task. Drive letters such as x or y or z work well.

Also try to change the policy for that drive (under device manager, select the disk, right click to properties), and optimize for quick removal.

Drives do have a specific drive letter and usb is plugged in at the rear. Also optimized for quick removal. Drives that worked earlier do get the same error messages now. I will try the recovery cd, perhaps that will work.
I'm not going to pay for the meaning of an error message though. :-(
