Fatal error during Re-install

Thread needs solution

I am trying to reinstall True Image 2014 and here is the message I get during the install:

Installation has failed.
Fatal error during installation
The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.

Attached is the error log.

I would greatly appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks,

Greetings,
Your install appears to be failing due to orphaned registry keys or remnant system files left behind from a previous installed version or trial. Have a look at this KB article:

https://kb.acronis.com/content/34876

Its important to follow all steps before restarting your system.

I also recommend that you download and install using the latest build of 2014. This is a free download from your Acronis User Acct. You do not need to install builds over the top of one another. All you need is the latest build to be up to date.

Thanks for your help...so far....I did all that you suggest with the same result. Attached is the latest error log.

Hi Pheasantww,
Please provide the following information:

I know your OS is Windows 7 SP1
What version/build of Acronis was installed previously? (working)
What version/build are you trying to install now?
Please confirm you are running the clean up utility and installer as a user with administrative level privileges

The current installation is still having problems:
Detecting files or registry items from a newer version of the product
Windows installer errors

-Please run the Cleanup Utility again - following all steps

-Please perform SFC /scannow - from an elevated command prompt - Report any errors found
You want an output like this:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved
C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.
Beginning verification phase of system scan. Verification 100% complete
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
C:\Windows\system32>

-Please re-register the windows installer service

Click Start, click Run, type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER, and then click OK

Click Start, click Run, type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER, and then click OK

Now restart and try installing the product again as a user with admin privledges.

Sorry for all the questions and hoops.  I'm still trying to pinpoint the cause of your issue.  The msi output is indicating problems in a few areas.  Most of which should be resolved with the Clean Up utility and ensuring both removal and re-installation is occurring as a admin level user.

Hi Shadowsports,

Thanks so much. Your latest instructions resolved the issue. After doing the SFC scan, (that scan is unfamiliar to me) the scan did find and correct some corrupted files. And after re-running the Cleanup Utility and restarting, True Image 2014 did re-install.

Thanks you so much and have a great Thanksgiving. Take care....

Pheasantww,
That's great news! The System File Checker verifies the integrity of core system files needed by the OS to properly function. Seems some of yours were corrupt. Glad I could help you. Happy holidays.

Shadowsports, That scan may be handy in the future. Wasn't aware of it.

Thank again you saved my bacon.
