File & folder backup : quota exceeded
Hi all,
Let me explain my situation.
I have about 250GB of files & folders that need to be backed up.
My backup destination is a 500GB Imation RDX disk.
I had set up an incremental backup and now after about 2 months I get the error that my destination disk is full. I'm guessing that some large PST files that change slightly each day are backed up completely each evening has caused my backup disk to become full.
I hadn't set up any cleaning as I didn't quite understand all the options available.
What would be the best way to set up a daily backup schedule to not get this problem of a full disk but still keep incremental backups.
I was thinking a full version after every 6 incrementals (1 week) and then also select
store no more then 1 recent verision chains.
So every monday it will create a new full version and delete the whole past week. But what if my first week takes up 300GB of the 500GB destination disk, then the next full version wouldn't even fit the remaining 200GB and my backup would already fail.
It seems to me that if you want to use these kind of cleanups that you already need a large amount of storage because the software first makes the backup and then cleans up.
Even if I would pick "single version" backup and my data is 260GB for example, my destination disk is 500GB then that would not even work because it would try to store the 2nd 260GB before it cleans up the first 260GB and my disk would already be too small.
I'm puzzled in what options I should pick, it seems having 260GB of data and a 500GB backup destination is not even sufficient for the simplest method of backup, single version backup.
Plz, any advice is much appreciated.

The bottom line is that you really need more storage space. You can normally expect TI to condense your disk image so that the *.tib file size will be about 65-70% of your used space.
Once you have a first full backup plus a few inc or dif's, you will not have enough room for TI to create a new full--even temporarily so you do have a space problem. I never recommend the deletion of backup but that is your only choice if the 500 is your sole storage space. Before the creation of the 2nd full, you could delete the backup files inside the storage and Acronis would restart a new chain. If an additional storage disk is out of the question, consider copying some of the files onto DVD
