File I/O error when Backing Up to LaCie Rikiki External Hard Drive

Thread needs solution

I am setting a new system using Windows 7 and Acronis True Image 2010. I downloaded the latest build from Acronis. I can successfully setup Acronis Secure Zone and backed up to it. I then went to back up to a LaCie Rikiki external hard drive and kept getting "File I/O Error". After several failed attempts, I then used a Seagate external hard drive and the backup succeeded. I downloaded a driver kit from Acronis to ensure I had the latest drivers. Still keep getting "File I/O error" for the LaCie hard drive.

Is the LaCie Rikiki hard drive not supported yet?

Hello Francine,

Let me assist you.

Unfortunately, we haven't tested Acronis True Image Home 2010 with this particular external hard drive, so we need some additional information from you to investigate the issue and to provide you with a fix.

Could you please do the following?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

I ran the AcronisInfo but received the following errors:

Failed to generate a list of groups
Failed to generate a report.

Acronic True Image reconizes my friend's Seagate externale hard drive, but not my new LaCie Rikiki drive.

Hello Francine!

Thank you for your comment and for keeping us posted, I really appreciate it.

In case Acronis Info didn't work, we'll need to obtain the information manually. Could you please gather:

  1. Acronis report
  2. *zip of the following folders from the problem PC:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImage\Logs
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImage\Scripts
  3. Windows System Information
  4. Event logs (Start -> Run -> eventvwr.msc)
  5. Screenshot of Windows Disk Management

After that please kindly contact support directly with the information attached. Keep in mind that should there be any procrastination with the reply, you can always specify us the case number. We will do our best to speed up the process.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
