Free Space On Drive Purging

Thread needs solution

Since Acronis 2011 i´m using acronis drive cleanser to purge the free space on my drives to get rid of the informations left on the drive.

But after Acronis 2012 it seems to not work properly anymore. After chosing the purging standard the cleaning takes now only 10 seconds. I can not believe that it was done correctly even when Acronis tells me "ended successfully".

In 2011 the cleaning of my drive D: took several hours and now it should be done within 10 secs?

Sincerly Felix

I too have also noticed this issue, and can reproduce it. Also in the System Clean-up, Hard Disk Free Space Clean-up, ATIH 2012 build 7133 does not seem to be working as it should, even when selecting the higher data destruction methods. Only takes seconds even on a partition with 100GB of free space. Looks like a bug.

Hello Felix and James,

Thank you for your comments.

I forwarded your feedback to our Testing Lab in order to reproduce this issue.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

 Hello all,

Thank you for your reports.

James F,

Is this behavior is reproducible by means the beta build? If yes, do you agree to continue investigation?

We are awaiting for your response.

Thank you.

Oleg,
I have not tested the Hard Disk Cleanup on 2013, but will today and let you know.

James,

Thank you for your response.

Best wishes,

The behavior is reproducible in 2013. Selected DoD method to clean 100GB free space, took less than 15 seconds.

 James,

Thank you for your response.

I will try to reproduce the issue and will be back in several minutes.

Thank you.

 Hello James,

I was unable to reproduce the issue.

Do you have NSB backup or another task running at the moment? And is remote access to your system possible?

Thank you.

Oleg,
No NSB or other tasks running.
I started a new post in the beta forum with more detail. http://forum.acronis.com/forum/33810

 Hello James F,

Thank you for your response.

We will continue investigation there. After that we should post the results in this thread.

Best wishes,
