Full Disk Encryption

I have a laptop with a Fully Encrypted Hard Drive.

Can I do 'image' backups / restores for this drive?

If I want to upgrade to a drive with more capacity can I do an 'image' backup and then restore it to the new drive?

Or do I have to deal with reinstallation of the software and 'file' backups and restores?

I didn't find any references to Fully Encrypted disk drives in the documentation / user manuals. Did I miss something?
