General question regarding backup and restore

Thread needs solution

I recently purchased a Corsair P256 SSD to use as a boot drive for my desktop. My original boot drive was a 1.5TB Seagate Barracuda. I downloaded Acronis True Image 2010 and did a backup of the Barracuda, creating a .tib file. I saved this tib file on the Barracuda. After the tib was created, I did not reboot but went directly to restore, and restored the .tib onto the SSD. After the restore was complete, I did a reboot. At this point, the Barracuda is in the 1st sata drive, the Corsair in the 2nd drive. I got an error message saying Windows could not boot due to a recent software or hardware change. I then turned off the computer completely and turned it back on, this time selecting F12 and telling the BIOS to boot from the Corsair. Windows booted up fine and everything was peachy. My question is, why would the Barracuda no longer boot after a restore of the .tib onto a different drive. Was there something I did that no longer allows the Barracuda to be bootable? And is there anyway to restore the Barracuda back so it is bootable again? My intention is to have the Barracuda as a backup bootable drive in case the SSD crashes one day. I use Windows 7 Ultimate. Thanks for reading this far :)

Your problem might be that having two bootable primary active drives confused everything.

What happens if you disconnect the SDD, does the original drive then boot?

If your BIOS allows it, fiddling with the boot priority order might solve the problem.

The other thing is possibly to split the original drive into two partitions and hide the Windows one.

When I disconnect the SSD, I still can't boot from the Barracuda. I'll just create another .tib and restore it onto the Seagate. I'll make sure not to have 2 bootable drives in the machine at once this time. Thanks for the input.
