Getting an I/O error when trying to copy my .tib to my WD ext. HD

Thread needs solution

Hi all. I have successfully created a .tib image file of my W7 Ult 64-bit OS drive (C), which sits on my D: drive. I wish to copy that to my WD My Book ext. HDD, but can not. I keep getting an I/O error when trying to do the copy. The .tib has passed a verification check by Acronis. The WD drive is seen by Windows, is available in Disk Mgmt, and I do not have a problem copying other files and folder to and from that WD drive. I have tried another USB port, but to no avail.

I searched google, and see many people with this I/O error, but was unable to find a solution for this specific problem. Was hoping someone here might have one.

Thanks in advance.

Try using a standalone copy program. One program (among many others) that might work is Karen Kenworthy's ( deceased).
REPLICATOR.

This one link. There are others.

I got an error a while back after setting up a NAS drive (d-link) on a customer's system. I did not give the drive a static IP, but did assign a drive letter to the drive, Y. The backup worked OK that day but the on the following day when the system was rebooted, dhcp gave the drive a different IP number and the backup failed, it couldn't find the destination, not exactly an I/O error. I set the drive to a static IP and now ATI can now find the drive.
