GUI issue with build 6597 and 6857
On the main screen with My Backups, showing a list of multiple backups, the graphic "Disk backup" or "File backup" on the left of the list, is roughly cut in half vertically. You can only see part of the words. A minor issue, I realize but I wanted to ask about it.

Thanks for the response.
I had noticed that this did not occur in build 5519.

I realize that this is certainly not a big issue but I was hoping that someone would confirm what I am seeing in build 6597 and that it was not seen in build 5519.
Thank you.

No one can confirm that this issue occurs in build 6597 and did not occur in build 5519?

Hello pbcopter and Grover,
Thank you for posting and thank you for your assistance Grover.
pbcopter, I will do my best to assist you.
Can you please send me a screenshot of the issue that you see in the latest build, we do not have any reports however I would like to follow-up with our Testing lab just in case.
Looking forward to your reply and if you have additional questions, please let me know.
Thank you.

Screen needs to be maximized for best results. When not maximized, some displays seems to work differently and not display correctly.

Hi,
Thanks for the responses.
Grover - At least in my case maximizing the display does not change what I am seeing.
Anton - I have attached a screen shot.

I have just installed Update 2, build 6857 and the GUI is the same as it was in build 6597 and 6696.

Why does this not surprise me in the slightest - - - You have to take whatever is written, said or promised from Acronis with a very big pinch of salt..... a VERY big pinch of salt..

It's not that big of a deal but I wondered if I missed something.

Unfortunately it simply highlights sloppy work by Acronis.

Hello pbcopter,
Thank you very much for the follow-up.
Unfortunately this issue was not fixed because there were other issues fixing which took additional amount of time. I apologize for the inconvenience.
As soon as I have any new information regarding this problem I will update this thread.
If you need additional help please let me know.
Thank you.

I notice that this is still not fixed in build 6942.
Is it Acronis' intention not to fix this?

This is the 2012 version view of tasks. Only the middle task is "open" while other tasks are compressed view.

Forgive me but I have no idea what you are refering to.

You have to understand that GroverH lives on a different Acronis planet to the rest of us.
I think the term "can't see the wood for the trees" is a good analogy - The rest of us know how sloppy Acronis have become but I sometimes think GoverH is the unofficial spokesman for Acronis - always excuses!
...and "Forum Star" ... do me a favour.

GroverH can't fix anything, not his fault... I for one appreciate him taking the time to post a screenie of how the GUI has changed in 2012 to negate this issue. It will be a long time, if ever, before I see any live Acronis GUI post 2011...
@GroverH
I haven't really been following the new 2012 area too closely. How's ATI 2012 working out for you? I see in general it appears to be a mess.

pbcopter,
After a little testing, I was able to reproduce the same situation as your attachment illustrated. Based on my test, the issue seems to relates to the number of tasks showing inside "My Backups" and the vertical screen resolution of of the monitor.
Version 2011, build 6942.
What I have discovered is this.
When screen resolution is 1280x1024, the screen can properly display 5 tasks. When more tasks added, the vertical size is reduced on each task and whole view is not possible. Note attachment #1 which shows 5 tasks properly displayed when vertical resolution is 1024 or more.
When vertical screen resolution is reduced to 1280 x 768, the max number of tasks which will properly view is 3. Four or more tasks will make reduce the vertical size and whole view is not possible. Note attachment #2 and 3.
I believe you can proof this finding by reducing the number of tasks shown in your attachment to less than 4 tasks.
It is highly probable that 6942 may well be the last release for the 2011 version. Whether Acronis will make a fix is unknown. This problem does not exist in the 2012 as the task display is completely different as shown in my previous posting. Perhaps your monitor has a higher screen resolution you might try.
Steve,
Thank you for your candid comments. That is referred to as 'shooting the messenger" syndrome. My complaints(and I have them) are directed directly to Acronis--not as a posting on a public forum. When I propose a "work around" solution, it is with the intent of helping the user to find a prompt temporary solution--not as an excuse for Acronis. Anyone posting on the forum has signed that they understand the completion of support ticket is necessary to get an official Acronis response. Most of the responses on this forum are from volunteers (like me) trying to be responsive to their request for help.
Gork,
My usage of TrueImage is as a basic backup and restore program and it serves my needs without many issues. I don't want, need or use all the "special" features. After my install, the first thing I do is to disable the features I do not use such as Sync and Online or non-stock backup.
For my use and in my testing, the 2012 basic backup, restore has been without issues as was most prior versions.
I do use restores to the same or new disks and do as assortment of clones--just for testing. All of this is just personal use so my testing is not applicable to any wide assortment of hardware. I prefer to use the "keep x number of chains" after x number of differentials. In my testing, the 2012 cleanup issues seem to work with my assortment of options. While I use multiple eSata and usb storage disks, I do not have storage via networks. My usage of TrueImage is just as an individual user having used each version from 8 to the current 2012. All of them have worked for me as a backup and restore solution and the restore function has saved me a ton of grief and lost time. Most of my backups are from within Windows and all of my restore or clones are done when booted from the TI bootable Recovery CD. As my needs have been simple, I avoid many of the issues that may have plagued others so my attitude is not that of one constantly being bothered with issues.
Attachment for phcopter: # 1: 1280 x 1024 ------------------------------------- #2: 1280 x 768

#3 : above 1280 x 768

@GroverH
So it sounds to me like 2012 is working fine for you. Glad to hear it. May I ask if you only write your images files to a hard drive locally or if you write them to an NAS, USB drive or something else? (I'm sure you've pointed that out before but I don't remember.) I, like you, have only used ATIH 2011 for backups/restores. I turn off all the bubba haboo after first installing, as you do. I run a full backup followed by 4 incremental versions and store nore more than 2 recent version chains. Pretty simple, and once it's set up it seems to run ok for the most part. BUT, I save my backups to NAS and because of all the associated problems with ATIH and networking I have run into PLENTY of issues. (And it appears from what little I've read this particular issues is back in full force with ATIH 2012.) And most recently I have gotten involved with problems because I decided to test the "files backup" ability of ATIH. It works, but it's been a bit bumpy. I'm interested to see if this latest build, 6942, might make things run a bit more smoothly. But, setting up file backups to back up to the NAS is being almost as problematic as setting up a backup for an image used to be. (Or modifying settings of a previously created backup job.) And even setting an image backup task doesn't run as smoothly as it should, still causing slow-downs at times where ATIH locks up for several seconds.
One other thing. Since upgrading to 6942 I've noticed that "My backups" doesn't populate immediately when the Acronis GUI comes up. It takes a good 20 seconds until things are ready to use. My backups show up as gray for the first 20 or so seconds.
And back on track with regard to the original issue at hand for this thread. I have noticed this GUI issue since I started using ATIH, but only if several backups are listed in the "My backups" area. I have pointed this problem out in previous threads, and I believe in direct communication to Acronis representatives as well. Though not a deal-killer alone, it still is indicative of an unprofessional product. I only have two backups running, now that I'm testing this file backup, and after one chain finishes and I verify there are no problems I simply remove it from the "My backups" area. So I rarely see this specific issue.

Thank you for your response.
I have confirmed on my system what you have discovered. I am using 1920 x 1080.
It is really not a big deal for me that the display is compressed. I only mentioned it again since I was told a fix was forthcoming some time ago and this problem did not exist in an earlier version (5519).
I'm probably going to upgrade to 2012 anyway.
Thanks again.
