hard drive replacement
I wished to replace a hard drive a while ago but after the replacement my system refused to boot.I keep my Acronis backup on an internal drive D: which I had to replace as it reported it was clsoe to failing. When I replaced this drive nothing would work.I noted that on my C: drive there is a large Acronis file labelled "My_System" which is 197Gbytes in size. "My_Backups" was on drive D:. Why do I need both items - one on drive C: and the other on Drive D:? If I want to successfully change my D: hard drive must I delete the Acronis file on my C: Drive to prevent it looking for my "My_Backups" on drive D:?
Ay help would be appreciated as I am new to Acronis.

Thanks for that reply. I tried deleting the system backup on the C:drive but it refused at first saying com was in use. I tried again a few minutes later and it deleted just fine. I restarted and it gave me a message saying it was completing the action and now all is as it should be and I have an extra 188 gb of space on my C:drive.
I've replaced the failing drive and created a new backup on the new D:drive.
Many thanks for the advice Pat L.
