Help with backup file needed
Hi,
I made a backup of my Grandson's hard drive a while ago using TIH 10 I backed it up to the DVD drive and it used two disks in total. Recently his hard drive failed completely and having replaced this for him I attempted to reload the back up files from the DVD disks, however when selecting the first file I get an error message saying that it isn't the first file, and if I select the second file it attempts to load this but it doesn't ask for the other disk to be loaded at all and when I try to boot the computer after it has finished the reload, windows will not boot as the info from the first disk is obviously missing.
When I made the backup disks I didn't make them bootable just a normal back up like I have in the past to another partition on the hard drive.
Is there any way that I can get these backup files to load onto the new hard drive?
Thanks.

You can try copying the all files from the DVD to a single folder on an external drive and see if you can restore the file when booted from the TI Rescue Cd.
When you created your backup, did you included all the other partitions within the backup? In other words, did you backup include everything on the disk such as hidden or recovery partitions; or did it only include the C drive?
What operating system is in use on your grandson's computer?

Hi,
The two backup files from the DVDs I have copied onto another HDD connected to the computer by a usb adapter and then booted from the ATI10 disk and tried to do a restore. It sees the files on the usb disk but when I start the recovery and select the first file I get the error message and if I select the second file it starts the restore process but when it finishes it is not complete because it hasn't taken the files from back up number 1, if that makes sense. The operating system is Vista and the backup included everything that I have selected on other machines when the HDD has been partitioned and the backup has been saved on the other partition but in one file obviously.
I thought that when I made the backup disks that it would boot from disk one and start a restore and then ask me to put in disk 2 at the appropriate point, but it doesn't boot at all from disk one.
Pete
