Help big issue with my new True Image 2011
Ok, so I've heard there are some issues with TIH and an iPod. Here's what happens to me, and I can reproduce it every time. Hopefully someone has a solution! Hellppp!
1) Do a file backup
2) It finishes, it's happy, it's validated
3) plug in iPod, listen to tunes or whatever
4) Go back to TIH and click "Explore and recover"
5) "CANNOT OPEN THE BACKUP FILE. View Log" it tells me
6) I view the log and there's nothing in there about the error that I can see
7) unplug iPod, restart for good measure
8) I STILL CAN'T ACCESS MY BACKUP ANYMORE!!
So, how can just adding a new drive basically (the iPod) cause my backup to be rendered useless! This is an urgent issue. I can try to avoid using my iPod from now on, but this seems very dangerous. Will this happen when I insert a Western Digital USB drive as well? Scary.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
Is it possible that when you plug your iPod, it takes the drive letter you typically use for your backup drive? That could happen if you reboot with the iPod plugged-in. It wouldn't happen if you have your problem when just plugging the iPod without restarting.
You could try to assign a permanent letter to your backup drive (something lower in the alphabet list like V, W, ...). To do that, right click on My Computer, choose manager, storage, disk management. Find your backup drive in the list, right click on the partition where you have your backups, and choose change letter and path. Reboot.

Yes I thought about playing with that, but really, the drive letters don't change (unless they ARE changing but not showing that visually to me!)
Just to recap 1)backup files 2)plugin iPod 3)remove iPod 4)restart with no iPod to be found 5)archive corrupted!
Actually the archive validates fine you just can't open it ever again!

Well I switched my backup drive to later letter in the alphabet and that seems to be working. I'm still a little worried so Acronis people please still look into this. But so far so good.
Also, I have my iPod set up to show up as a disc. It would be nice to turn that feature off but unfortunately it seems that can't be done unless I sync my libraries which I don't want to do. Anyway, that's another possibility to look into.

Great! Let us know if that solves your issue definitely.
