Home 2009 & network backup drives - Authentication problem

Thread needs solution

ok, I'm still using 2009, asi'm not happy with latest releases, on my Vista PC. I recently bought a Network backup drive pod (with 2 drives in Raid 1). Now the problem I'm having is when I edit a backup task, it keeps coming up with a message "You have selected remote resource and have not specified credentials for it. Select "IT" and click Authentication settings button on the toolbar" ... !! ?? but I cannot see the toolbar anywhere ? It's not in the Source nor Target ??

Help?

Hi Grant,
I don't have my 2009 disk handy at the moment, but basically you are being asked to supply login credentials for the user who can access the device or shared resource you are attemptitng to save .tibs to.

There are several ways to specify a share name using ATI. Here are some examples:

\\NameOfYourNAS\shared folder (Use Server name)

\\192.168.1.x\shared folder (Use IP address of server)

From memory, I remember that the Authentication Settings allow you to specify these user credentials for scheduled back up tasks.

Let us know if you continue to experience issues.

Thanks Shadow, but I need to know where exactly to input the network login details (userid / password) to login to the network backup HDDs.

When I EDIT a scheduled backup task, there is a SOURCE page, for files location etc, and DESTINATION page for for backup location. Neither of these screens have a place to input network login details ?

Any help?

Thanks

Grant,

I believe this is what you are looking for. It's under the Scheduling heading.  Let me know if this helps.

yeah, i saw that but I use that to login to my computer. i need a login for my computer and my network HDD backup pod

hmmmm, do I really need a computer login .. i'll play around.

No ,didn't work - that Userid and password needs to be Computer login

Funny when I start Acronis 2009 and edit a scheduled task, a window pops up asking for network UserID and password, but when the task is activated it bombs out with a I/O error. This can only be fixed by removing all authentication from my Backup Pod .. not safe.

hmmmmm ...

.

What about deleting and recreating the scheduled task?

THANK YOU! that worked. a popup window appeared wanting the network login details, and even though the network test button kept saying FAIL, it actually worked.

It must save the network details somewhere.

thanks again.

Your welcome. I'm glad this helped.
