Horrible experience true image 2014

Thread needs solution

Hello,

Attempting to clone to a new crucial SSD. Installed true image 2014 that came with the Crucial SSD. Of course, it fails to work correctly. Hangs on restart in windows mode, and hangs from bootable media I wasted a cd to boot from. Strangely the bootable media is WD version? Why is that, maybe that's why it hangs? It came with crucial drive, so why WD version? Anyways, it's pure garbage, and looks like only solution is to pay for upgrade? OUTRAGEOUS. Not only that, the version I was directed to download is not even the current build. When I try updating to the latest build nothing happens and there is no link anywhere to update. I guess you guys expect me to shell out $100 bucks to upgrade to 2015 version? What a crock! SAD SAD SAD.

Kirk,
Support for OEM versions of the product is not provided by Acronis. Once licensed, the OEM dictates how the software works and what features it includes. In addition, most OEM versions are old and outdated. It seems like crucial is the party responsible for directing you to a WD branded release of the software. This is not the fault of Acronis. I believe it is truly in your best interest to purchase and use a full version of the product. It can be had for under $100. Please see the Jan Promo.

If you are going to clone, this is the recommend procedure.

If this can't be done with the OEM product, you should contact crucial for support since they are the ones distributing the software. Just so you understand, the user community does not have access to support for OEM versions of the product, whos function and version can vary greatly from what is available from Acronis.

Thanks for the reply. Thankfully I am no dummy. I paid less than $100 for the drive. I am not about to spend one penny cloning it.

Macrium Reflect cloned it in less than six minutes for free. Used Partition mini tool to extend it, (SSD was larger drive than the original).

Took about a minute for that part. Simple as that. Did not cost a penny, worked perfectly within windows 7, no wasted CD media to burn to was necessary. And yes I will post this on the crucial forum as well so nobody else gets ripped off.

Nice try though.

And yes I agree, it's crucial's fault for including such a crappy software such as acronics to begin with! Shame on them, and you for not supporting it to work properly in the first place! I am sure they must have paid something for it and it's pure garbage! Have a nice day.

Kirk,
Glad you got it sorted. The MVPs here (we) are volunteers, and do not benefit from you choosing to purchase the software. Glad you found a free solution. Please implement a permanent solution moving forward as the trial for either Acronis or Macrium only lasts 30 days.
