How do I delete the Secure Zone and reclaim on large partition?

Thread needs solution

I have an external USB backup drive (two 500GB drives in a Raid 1 configuration) and can't figure out how to delete the Secure Zone and reclaim one large partition.

If you have ATI installed, it should find the ASZ (in tools), and you can delete it from there.

I've tried that but unfortunately, need step by step instructions. Everything I've tried hasn't worked.

When you launch ATI in windows, in the tools section, click on manage Acronis Secure Zone: does it find your zone? If yes, you should be able to delete it, if not: boot on the Acronis recovery CD, go to tools, Acronis Secure Zone and try from there. If it doesn't work, could you post a screenshot of your disk management console?

I am afraid the alternative would be for you to backup the rest of your disk when the ASZ is, and then reformat the disk completely.

There is also a way to transform the ASZ into a regular partition by manually editing certains sectors directly on the disk, making it a regular disk partition that you can manage using partition tools.

I can find the zone - but how do I delete it? I've tried many times - and failed to find a way. I move a slider to the minimum - but the before and after sizes of the zones are the same.

I would think you should just be able to right click and choose Delete - but there is no such option. Reformatting seems like a drastic way to go about it. Besides, now I have two partitions and would have to format them separately. How can I combine them using Acronis?

In between each of the comments below, I had screenshots - but they don't show with a copy and paste. It would help greatly if you could see them......

I have Acronis True Image 11 Plus Pack - and this is what I see:

I Go To Main Screen......

I click on Tools and Utilities............

I click on Acronis Secure Zone.....

I check Disk 3.................

Now I click on Next..............

Now I change Acronis Secure Zone to the minimum (zero - but when I click Enter, zero changes to 50MB...........

Now I click on Next and this is what I see.........

I now clicked on Options which only allows me to create a Password or not - so I click on Proceed which is the only other "button" I have available to me.........

This is what I see.....
Shortly after I see the above, I see another box which says Operation Successful - but the above box is still on my screen. I go back to me Desktop and the above box is gone............
Now I go to My Computer and this is what I see............

The LaCie should show me a total capacity of 500GB - but it looks the same as when I had a 250GB Acronis Secure Zone.............
I go back to Acronis True Image Home and enlarge it and this is (finally) what I see..............

I click on Remove and this is what I see...........

I click on Proceed and...............
After Analyzing for a short time, I see a box which says Operation Successful. But when I go to My Computer again, this is what I see.............

It does not appear that I have removed the Secure Zone. I will now reboot............

Going into ATI and into Acronis Secure Zone as I did above, this is what I see.........

Perhaps the Secure Zone is gone - but how do I add the Unallocated space back to my F: Drive?

Let's see what ATI did. It might have reallocated the space, not sure. If not, use Windows disk management console to extend the other partition and fill the disk, or download a free partition manager to make the changes (eg EaseUS partition manager, gpart, etc.)

* edit: I mistyped the third party partition manager name
