How do I restore to another hard disk

I am using vs 2014
I have done a full backup to a external HD -using Acronis boot
I have my hard drive split programs on C (158G) Data on D
I checked everything for the backup - except D (I keep a separate backup for data)
It verifies so I assume that it is good.
(new) 500 G
I did the restore. All looked well.
On boot "Your PC needs to be repaired"
When I look at the New in explorer (using USB after putting original hard drive back in, the partitions look correct. I don't know about the boot track.

Am I missing a flag or something in setup.
