How do you move ATIH?

Thread needs solution

I bought an additional ATIH 2013 licence for a new laptop but for whatever reason it doesn't work correctly where it does on my desktop. If I backup in Win 7 to the data partition on the hdd it completes OK but validation fails because it can't open the file. However the backup does validate when booted to the recovery cd. It's more than a bit irritating when ATI starts, seeing my backup marked as corrupt when it is in fact perfectly OK and will restore from the CD.

I can't be bothered troubleshooting this any more as the disk itself passes all tests and the problem appears to be with ATI itself. What I want to do is uninstall it and reinstall it on my wife's Vista, and uninstall her ATIH 2012 and try that out on the laptop. How do I do that without running into licensing issues?

Please don't advise more disk checks as we've already been through all of that.

In your other thread, you did not report back as to whether you checked the extra partitions with chkdsk /r.
You also mentioned you might reformat the drive and then test again, but you didn't post the result.

Another possibility, which I may have mentioned in the other thread, is that some utility running in Windows could be interfering, which is why all works fine from the Rescue Media. If you have some disk utility, that might be the cause. There have been reports of some tools causing conflicts with ATI.

Moving ATI is simple. Install on the new PC. When it complains about too many activations, deactivate it and activate again.

Thanks. I haven't been pursuing this up to now as everything is OK just as long as I don't try to verify my backups in Windows. I will come back to it when life stops getting in the way ;-)
