How does Acronis behave if a USB drive is missing when a scheduled backup starts?

Thread needs solution

I have a USB drive that I have scheduled to do incremental backups once per week. But, the drive might not always be connected. What will Acronis do if the time for the scheduled backup comes and the drive is not connected?

Also, I noticed a bug: if the drive is not connected end I edit the settings for the backup, the software selects the system "C" drive as the backup source, even though this drive was never selected in the initial backup.

Normally, the task will attempt to run and fail with a user cancelled timeout message. or, depending upon your "advanced settings" inside the Scheduler option, you may have the Run, if missed, at startup which may apply.

My recommendtion to everyone is that except for schedule changes (done fromthe main menu), do NOT perform edits and change the task and as you found out, definitely do not edit a task witihout the target disk onliine.

Curious as to which version of Windows?

Thanks. I am running Windows 8.1. I will try not to open the edit window when the disk is off line, but it is quite disconcerting to see a different drive selected when I do...the prgram shouldn't behave that way.

Hello davidy1900,

recently we've released the new build for Acronis True Image 2014.

Can you please install the update (6673) and check, if the described behavior (source changing) will be reproduced.

If yes, please post here illustrating screenshots.

Thank you.
