How to Merge Incrementals with your Full Backup?
Hello,
I made my initial C drive image a full. I run incremental images nightly. Before long my backup drive is full with dozens of files. How do I tell the incrementals to merge with my full so its nice and consolidated in one file?
Is there anyway to just tell the incrementals to update the full file instead of making a new file?
Thank you

Thanks for the info. If you set consolidation to take place when the number of backups is say 5 (one full and four incrementals), what exactly happens when you run the next incremental? I read the manual area but it isn't clear to me. Does the program delete the old incrementals and start with one new one based on the full?

Use Chain2Gen(C2G) which is a helper program for TrueImageHome(TIH). TIH does the scheduling and the backups while C2G makes sure the correct number of backups are retained and that the full backups are created on the date specified.

I am using Acronis True Image Home 11.0 - did a complete image initially and then automatic incremental backups weekly.
My external drive is full of backup files - some screen shots are attached. It seems like there were about 10 files created initially, and another two created each week, and the file size is similar each time.
I tried looking at Chain2Gen but can't make sense of the technical jargon you guys use, so I am thinking of starting over again - how can I get rid of the existing backups on my external drive and start over?.
Am I doing something wrong with the incremental backup setup? I believe I turned off the automatic disk defrag on my PC because I read that it increases the backup file size.

Windows Vista
PC has total 265 GB hard disk, with 179 GB free space
Backups are on external drive (Western Digital MyBook 500 GB)
