How to Recover

Thread needs solution

I am using Windows 8 Prof. I did Acronis Boot CD. I also created Acronis full backup (My_partitions_full_b1_s!_v1) on an external drive via USB. I wanted to test it so I put a new formatted by writing zeros, hard drive in computer in place of original. Computer booted to Acronis and I chose recovery method of recover whole disks and partitions. The next window lists: NTFS (OS) (C); MBR, FAT 32 (ESP), FAT 32 (Diags), NTFS (WINRETOOLS), and NTFS PBR Image). I am not sure what to check and do I need to do them in some special order?
Also, the next window asks for partition location and when I click the new location on right side I get, NTFS (D), and NTFS (E). These are the parts of the external drive. What do I do?
Also is there aphone number for Acronis to get this help? THe manual is vague at this point.
Thanks.

At this stage all you need to do is tick the disk icon and the image will be restored correctly. Only if you get either warnings, errors or it fails would an alternatives need to be considered.

As you have an ESP folder I take it this is a PC with EUFI and the disk is GPT?

As the Recovery CD uses Linux it will assign different disk letters to itself, when you reboot into Windows the drive letters will be correct from a Windows point of view as they are stored in registry.

Colin,

Thank you very much. I will try what you said in a couple of days. Where do I tick/check the disc icon? What window is it in?

Again, Thanks.
