How to remove ATH2012 Update 2 build 7119 ???

Thread needs solution

I'd "like" to try the newest version. Yet I still have the nagging version that is impossible to remove without the destruction of the Windows-7 64 bit O/S. Has happened twice, and I have had to sys-restore , thus leaving ATH2012 always here.

Windows backup can not work because ATH 2012 refuses to let it work.
Tried to use ATH2012 but it too crashes with the 8007b error.
Thus I've not been able to do a backup in months.

Is 2014 useful or is it impossible to remove?

How can I remove ATH2012?

So far I've skipped the nagging Emails about this or that new Acrons because this is the second computer ATH has buggerd up. The other on I had to fresh-install Win-7 to be able to rid it if ATH2012. Was not my favourite choice though. Just the only way I found to gt use of a backup program.

Thanks for any good help not tried by previous postings.

The fact that nobody from Acronis would, or could, answer this, tells me all I needed to know about trying to buy and install ATH2014.

The only method then is to re-format the drive to be able to install any other backup program.

Rob,
Most likely, you already know that there is a special cleanup utility (link 4 below) which will remove all
Acronis products from your system but I cannot guarantee that it will not have the same boot issues as before. If you follow the written instructions written with the KB article, these special instructions are supposed to help prevent the issues that you describe.

My suggestion would be to boot from the TI Recovery CD and do a complete and full disk backup including validation when booted from the CD.
Before the backup, you would be a good idea to check your system disk for disk errors if you have not done such a check within the past couple months.

Then, you have problems booting, you could restore the new backup to get you backup to before with TrueImge installed.

If the cleanup goes well, you should consider an additional backup so you have a good working backup without TrueImage installed.

Here is a link that might help to make sure your new backup does include all partitons.

I believe your lack of response from other volunteers is that they cannot predict whether a cleanup will work without followup non-boot problems. The cleanup should remove the program but without boot problems may be another issue. Acronis rarely responds to forum postings or even aware of your posting . Their support procedure does not involve them posting responses on the forum but that the user fills out a support request. Note the "how to get supoort" along the left margin.

As you know, I am a volunteer and not associated with Acronnis but if I can help a fellow user, I am more than willing to try to assist you--just as I have on past occasions.

Thanks!

We'll, I will try the cleanup utility again. Haven't for a year now. I doubt it was ever a disk problem as it happened with two installs of ATH2012 on two different computers. Previously the cleanup util didn't make it so that I could use Windows Backup. All it did was remove "some" parts of ATH2012. Windows wbengine was still unable to run thru to completion w/o the regular 8007 error. (i think it's that one)

I will use your volunteer links and try then post back

thanks for the time.

Do be sure and boot from the CD and take a full disk backup. This is your insurance if your system does not boot after the cleanup and you want to return to the status quo.
