How secure is Acronis Secure Zone??

Thread needs solution

Hello everyone,

How secure is a password protected Acronis Secure Zone from nasty malwares that can reformat the entire hard drive or make it unstable?
This is with reference to ATIH 2011.

Please help

exus69,

The ASZ uses a special partition code that makes an unusual partition to deal with for software other than ATI. This doesn't guarantee that some malware cannot affect the MBR and the ASZ.
More importantly, if your disk dies, you will not be able to access the ASZ.

If you are worried about malware damaging your backups, the only way is to rotate disks and keep some disk(s) off line or disconnected from the computer.

exus69:

The most "secure" zone is to save your backups on an external removable hard disk and then remove it to some other physical location (keep home data at your office, or a relative's house, or a trusted friend, or a safe deposit box). This protects your data not only from malware, but from electrical surges, fire, flood, theft, etc.

Thank You for the replies. I know I replied too soon lol but I hadn't visited Acronis forums since my first post. Goes to show how good the product is :)
