How to start a brand new backup on new HD?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

How to start a brand new backup on new HD?

A. I have filled-out the external drive X with backups. I connected a brand new external drive Y and I want to start a brand new set of backups (partition type). What do I need to do?

B. Once I succeed with the above brand new backup, I will reformat external drive X, but then how do I successfully delete ALL old backups from Acronis TIH2014?

Thanks

You need to create a new backup task to point to the new empty storage disk. It is not possible to use the same task and have backup go to two different disks using the same task.

Stop using the existing backup task. To save time, you can place your cursor inside the existing backup task and click on the Gearwheel (extreme right margin) and from the resulting list of options, choose the Clone backup task option.

This will create a new task on your desktop, then again click the gearwheel and choose "edit setting"
Now whatever settings need to be changed to point the new backup to the new disk.

Why not set up your backup scheme so the program will delete the oldest backups so you have a revolving set of backups--much like an escalator--the new backup is added and the old backup is deleted.

Click on link 2 below and review the illustrations 11-Full or 11-Inc or 11-Dif and choose the type backup to match your needs.
You can change the example of 6 and 4 to fit your own needs.
