How to view log
Hi,
My old Win7 OS hard disk is spoiled. The backups are made in another disk.
I have reinstalled Win 7 in a new hard disk now.
How can I view the log entries/log viewer of the backups made?
I want to view the log because I know some of the backups did not completed/hang due to the bad hard disk. So I want to avoid restoring files from those incomplete backups.
I am using version 11.0 (build 8,101)
Thanks

Do you have TI 11 installed in Windows 7? I assume you know that TI 11 doesn't support Windows 7. That could be part of the problem.
Normally, backups that don't complete are invalid and you can't restore from them.
For the log files, look under C:\ProgramData\Acronis\TrueImageHome\Logs. You may need to enable viewing of hidden and system files and protected operating system files to find it.

I am using version 11.0 (build 8,101) on win 7 for quite sometime. TI 11 works fine on windows 7, and I read other people say it works too.
My problem is due to a bad hard disk. It has been confirmed that the disk have bad sectors and died. It has nothing to do with the Acronis version. I have replaced the hard disk and everything is working fine now.
I am not asking about the log files on the backups made after I reinstall my win 7.
I am asking about the log files for the previous acronis backups done before I reinstall win 7.
I will try to explain what is the log file I am looking:
Everyday you can go to the acronis program and use the log viewer to view logs.
Lets say you save your backups to an external hard disk.
If one day, your PC crashes and you reinstall win 7, you would like to see the logs for the backups (made before pc crash).
Where are you going to find the log?

You would need to look in your older backup images for the log files. Explore or Mount them and browse to the path given in Post #2. I would try the backup created just prior to the failure first.
Otherwise, the logs are lost unless you can "recover" them from the dead drive.

I mounted my older backup and I could not see any log files in the path or in the log viewer.
I guess log files are not stored in the backups. If a hard disk crashes, there is no way to view the logs of the backups.

The logs are just standard files. They should be in the backup if they existed on the drive when the backup was created, unless you excluded them. Do you normally use any exclusions (like the Exclude all hidden files and folders option)?
Did you try running a search for *.log files on the mounted drive? Maybe they're in a different folder. Maybe a user's folder? Make sure you include hidden/system folders in the search.
Did the path exist and was empty or was it not even there?

Ok. I found the log files in my old backups in the mounted drive now. I did not find it earlier because I went to C: on my current pc.
Is it possible to view the log in a log viewer?
The acronis log viewer cannot open saved log files?

You could try copying the log files to the correct path on the new installation and see if TI will pick them up.

Copying the log files to the correct path on the new installation works. Thanks
Just curious, what does "Explore" do? I tried the explore, but it cannot load. It open a white blank folder.

Explore is supposed to open up an Explorer-type window and allow you to browse the backup files. It's kind of like Mounting except the partition image isn't "connected" as a drive and assigned a drive letter.
