I'm freaking out here....

Thread needs solution

I just bought the app. Installed it. I then made an image of my hard drive to a USB drive.

I clicked on something so that I can recover b pressing F11 before the system boots the OS. I told my machine to shut down. Instead of shutting down, I see a screen saying there is an operation in progress and that my machine will shut down when it is finished.

It's been like this for over an hour.

Will someone please tell me what this damn thing is doing to my computer? How long is this going to be like this? What is it doing to my hard drive? I didn't tell it to restore or do anything. What is going on?

I can't find anything in the manual that mentions this screen or says what it is doing or how long it will take. Whatever it is doing, I'd appreciate if someone would tell me if this is harming my computer. I just bought this new laptop and got it all just right and wanted to make a backup of it in case something happens. Now I feel like I just screwed it up.

You app could do a whole lot more to warn us as to what it is going to do. I'm pretty pissed off right now.

Is this a windows screen or an ati screen?

If Win hasn't returned keyboard processing to you in an hour, then you probably a program lockup and you'll need to reboot to break out of it. But first, use Win Task Manager to see what processes are running and using up CPU time, one of these is probably the locked-up program. If you can't get the Task Manager with ctrl-alt-del, then you surely will need to reboot.

You can try booting with the ati bootcd and restroing your backup with that. Hopefully, you already created the bootcd and tested that it works on your machine.

This happened to me also.I believe it's the auto validation that's doing this. When your starting a backup, turn off the validation in the backup options and this shouldn't happen.I'd rather validate in the boot environment than in Windows anyway.

it wasn't the usual list of programs Windows may show and give me the option to cancel, force quit, or wait for xyz to close on its own. Looks like more dealing with integration, such as unable to go back to Windows backup/recovery after install, and integration with Windows backup.

No way to see what task or process is running.
I miss the Windows backup status bar window.
Was not a 'program lockup' but "user locked out".
