Image of a Dell GX620 will not restore
True image 2010
I have a total drive backup on an external drive.
New hard disk, same Dell computer.
It re-installs all the files,,, but drive will not boot. Just blinks.
100+ things about this ,,,,, how about the fix.

Thanks for the reply.
It was a total disk backup.
When I did the restore,,, I had 2 choices MBR one and the partition one. I chose both.
Let me add, I tried this with both 2010 and 2011 CD.
I do this all the time,,,, but for some reason, this is being an issue on this Dell.
Someone suggested < I need to possibly change something in the BIOS?
This is a 80 GIG sata drive (out) and a new 80 Gig drive (in)
, Thanks,,, Bill M

Are you 100% sure your old disk only has or had 1 partition when the backup was created?
Most Dell Windows 7 installation includes a "Recovery" partition plus some also have an "OEM" partition and both of these partitions do not have any drive letters assigned and would not show in Windows Explorer. These two non-lettered partitions would only show when viewed in Windows Disk Management console in graphical view. When the Recovery partition exists, it is the active partition and it controls the booting. If your old disk has these partitions and the new disk does not, this could be the cause for the non-booting of your new disk.
Should you feel a need to confirm the number of partitions currently on your OLD disk, install the old disk back into the computer.
Boot from the TI Bootable CD and simulate starting to perform a backup on the OLD disk. The 2nd or 3rd screen where the user chooses what is to be included in the backup would display the number of partitions currently on that specific original disk. If the screen shows a Recovery and/or OEM partition, then from the same screen, checkmark the disk option so all partitions are included in the new backup. Additional restore information may be needed depending upon your response.

thanks for the reply.
I checked the backup several times.
Windows XP box.
ran out of time, just installed windows XP on the box.
Attached the backup dirive to my 'own' PC, and opened that backup and got off the files I needed to a thumb drive.
Luckily, Acronis allows one to open a 'total' backup to get files!!
Again, thanks.
