Image size curiosity
I did two images on my system. The major difference being that I skipped the Dell restore partition the second time. The restore partition size is 10 gig and it is half full. The odd thing is that the second image was 25 gig smaller than the first image rather than 5 gig smaller which is what I expected. My questions is, why was the second image so much smaller than the first one? I didn't delete 20 gig of stuff.
Here are some details:
With the first image, I selected all partitions on hard disk #1.
C: Vista boot partition
D: Dell restore partition, 10 gig, half full
K: Data partition
?: Dell diagnostic I think
Using Linux kernal, TI 2011, build 6597
Selected full image, first of a differential series
Normal compression
Backup to internal hard disk #2
Validate okay, image size is 145 gig
This was followed by 3 differentials which were 7, 26 and 32 gig
With the second image, following all of the above, I selected 3 partitions on hard disk #1.
C: Vista boot partition
K: Data partition
?: Dell diagnostic I think
Using Linux kernal, TI 2011, build 6597
Selected full image, first of an incremental series
Normal compression
Backup to internal hard disk #2
Validate okay, image size is 120 gig
