Incremental backup always runs out of space

Thread needs solution

Hi - just wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction. I have 2 PC's backing up via Incremental Backup to a NAS. One PC using ATI 10 and the other using ATI 12.

Each week I set it it to backup the contents of the C: drive and consolidation is set to "1" so that I only have one backup at a time on the NAS.

However, both ATI 10 and 12 keep creating full backups over and over again until the drive run out of space. It seems to want to repeatedly do full backups every time the job runs.

How can I get Acronis to do 1 full backup and then do incremental backups thereafter?

My current settings set to "Incremental" and "Consolidate after 1 backup" do not seem to achieve this. What am I missing?

With this setting, ATI is trying to create a new incremental backup and then fold it immediately in the full. To do that, it needs to create a temporary probably as big as the original full.
Do not use consolidation. Choose to run X incremental before a new full, and instruct ATI to keep only a limited number of Y chains (one chain is made of one full and X incrementals). Remember to choose X and Y so that:
- your older full is never so old that you would never go back to it, if need be,
- you can still do easily a full backup on top of the Y chains.
