Install failure with error : cannot copy the file tdrpman_2k.sys

Thread needs solution

Hi - I am trying to install Acronis True Image Home 2010 onto my laptop but it is failing with the an error stating that setup cannot copy file tdrpman_2k.sys from C:\...temp...CDA5113E....., see attached document. However the file in question is sitting in the temp folder referred to.

Does anyone know how to resolve this please? I have tried both the trial version and also with my valid licence keys from my desktop, but it always fails.

I am planning to buy a second copy of Acronis (for the laptop), but only if it is going to install. Perhaps I should add that my laptop runs VISTA Home premium and it has become very nearly unusable, so I need to back it up before rebuilding it from scratch.

Interesting - the attachment I posted, which is word file, thinks it is a zip file when you try to open from these forms. The errors is in the file called imag1.png in the zip archive presented to you.

Well I just found a thread here with something similar, but with a fairly long solution that did not match what i found. However I searched my windows\inf folder and found a file in it called called oem10.inf, as well as a few others. No *.pnf files though!

I opened this file in notepad, found that it references Acronis, so I renamed it and Acronis then installed fine!

I not sure what I am reading about here. But I did a search for that file and this is just one post about that file.(drpman_2k.sys )I like to say this is a Windows problem, but after reading the post on this subject it really sounds like Acronis. For sure this is a software problem. And you did state you vista was unstable. Why is your Vista unstable,if you could fix that problem then maybe you Acronis would work.

Thanks for the reply. My Vista had several problems and I decided to upgrade it to Windows 7, which is now running very well. The problems with Vista included windows help, windows restore, windows update and MS Office & Outlook all not launching for any user of the laptop.

Earlier this laptop had caught an aggressive false alerting Malaware infection which I removed eventually with a combination of Stopzilla and Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. However I later found that Windows Defender was running (I never installed this myself - it must have come from an MS update) and interfering with my own anti virus and anti malaware products.
