Installation of Acronis TrueImage Home 2011 makes system unbootable

I installed Acronis TrueImage Home 2011 on my Dell Precision M60 Notebook (Windows XP SP3 German, 32 Bit, with latest Patches). After the installation completed without error I rebooted the system.
But I only get to a blinking cursor!!!
I tried to repair boot sector and MBR using the Windows XP installation CD and Recovery Console.
I also tried to repair MBR using gparted on Knoppix live CD.
But the system will not boot anymore.
Why does Acronis bury itself so deep in the system, that it gets unusable?
